PR Performance Results Reporting & Metrics
Here you will find a few examples of the slide decks (2), graphs and charts I used to report PR performance results and metrics to executive leadership, marketing, sales, product, and other internal teams at my previous employer, Gale. All data was pulled from Cision Communications Cloud.
The media impact charts were among the most powerful reporting tools — particularly with executive leadership — because they measure the impact of press coverage against top competitors and assign an impact score on a scale of 1 to 50, with 50 being the highest. The media impact score is calculated by multiplying the prominence score by the outlet/publication tier multiplier, which is weighted based on the size of the publication. What makes this metric so compelling is that it moves beyond raw coverage volume. Anyone can generate press mentions, but understanding the quality and competitive impact of that coverage tells a much richer story about market leadership — one that resonates with executives and stakeholders alike.
The Gale Operating Review slide deck as well as the individual slides that are color formatted in green, gray and black, were used specifically for reporting at executive leadership meetings. The green chart was also used in those settings when leadership wanted a quick, at-a-glance view of what was performing well and what needed attention. The last slide listed below — a PR results breakout by market segment — was used primarily with the marketing, product, and sales teams for each market (K-12, higher education, and public library) to present PR results specific to their products and how those products stacked up against their top competitors.
Feel free to have a look, and don't hesitate to reach out if you'd like to see additional reporting examples not featured here.
